Dear Parents,
I have the pleasure to share an exciting learning opportunity with your student. The FACS class that your student is enrolled in will be taking advantage of a trip to Fort Larned to bake bread in the ovens, just like the soldiers would have used in the 1800’s, and get a taste of how nutrition and daily life has changed through the years.
This opportunity will take place on Thursday, April 21st. The FACS classes and Mrs. Morse’s classes will be traveling to the Fort just after seminar. We will load the bus at 8:30 and will start our program at the Fort at 8:45. The students will meet in their respective teacher’s classroom to check in before loading the bus in the South Parking Lot.
The bus will return to the high school by the end of 3rd Block at 1:30. The students will then finish their day in their 4th block classes. There is no cost to the student for this trip, however, we do ask that each student bring their own sack lunch.
For this opportunity, the students will miss most of their other classes on that day. Because of this, the students will be responsible for meeting with their other teachers to get any makeup work they will miss before we leave. If any student feels uncomfortable participating in the trip for any reason (does not want to miss other classes, etc.), they will be allowed to stay at school and will complete an alternate assignment during their FACS class time. Please have your student talk with me about any questions or concerns they may have and I will be happy to help.
I am so excited to be able to share this opportunity with your students! Please sign and return the attached form to me by Friday, April 15th. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by phone at the High School at 285-2151 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Field trip information as well as other updates about the FACS classroom is also available on my website at jjohnsonfacs.weebly.com.
Thank you!
