Skyward and Grading Info
As many of you know, we have switched our student information system from Powerschool to Skyward. As we all learn the new system, you might see some things that are a little different. If you or your student is enrolled in Leadership Service/Family Studies or Culinary Essentials/Nutrition and Wellness, you might have noticed that the class has two names. This is not two separate classes, but are combined into one class, taught simultaneously.
Because these classes are treated as one class, in the Skyward gradebook, students will receive one grade for this class. This gets confusing, because in the Skyward gradebook, it looks as if there are two separate classes.
To limit confusion, all graded assignments will be entered into the class that is listed first in alphabetical order (for example, grades will be entered into the class named Culinary Essentials instead of Nutrition and Wellness). The other class will have no entries until the end of the semester. At this time, I will make one entry reflecting the score the student has earned in the class.
I hope this clears up some confusion. If you have any questions, please let me know. My contact information can be found under the Contact Info tab.

Skyward Gradebook and Missing Grades
I have had several questions about the gradebook in Skyward saying students are missing assignments. There is a setting somewhere in the gradebook that flags all assignments that do not have a grade entered as missing (and I have yet to find it to get this fixed!). In many cases, this is not accurate.
If your student has "missing" assignments, please click on the assignment. If the score has an * in place of a score, this means that the grade has not been entered yet, not that it is missing. If the score has a 0, then that means I have not yet received the assignment.
A score of 0 does not mean that your student cannot turn in an assignment. I will continue to accept and grade late work as long as it complies with the late work policy.
If there is ever any question, please let me know. I will be happy to help in any way that I can.
