Miss Johnson's class, along with students from Mr. Junker's and Ms. Novotny's classes had the opportunity to put their skills to the test by competing in Dual Survivor Day at Fort Larned National Historic Site. The students used a variety of skills to compete in tasks necessary to survive during the 1800's, just like the soldiers at Fort Larned! The tasks included saddling a horse, rescuing a lost soldier, creating a meal from scratch, doing laundry (no washing machines!), and starting a fire, just to name a few! From math skills to everyday life skills, the kids were challenged to survive like they would have on the Prairie (and learn a thing or two about how different we have it today!).
