Upcoming Field Trip Information
I have the pleasure to share a couple exciting learning opportunities with your student. The FACS class that your student is enrolled in will be taking advantage of two different opportunities during the week of Nov. 1st.
The first opportunity will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 3rd. The FACS and Industrial Arts classes will be traveling to Hays to visit the North Central Kansas Technical College for their Fall Showcase Day. The students will have the opportunity to explore the post-secondary education options available at NCK Tech.
The students will meet at 7:20 AM, by the band room, for a 7:30 departure. The bus will return by the end of school at 3:15 PM. There is no cost to the student for this trip (lunch will be provided). Please visit the NCK Tech Website for more information at https://www.ncktc.edu/.
The second opportunity will take place Friday, Nov. 6th (with alternate date Nov. 10th if the weather does not cooperate). The American History, FACS, and pre-Algebra classes will be participating in Dual Survivor - Man vs. Prairie, hosted by Fort Larned. The students will participate in activities such as making soap, cooking a meal, washing clothes, patrolling the Fort grounds, rescuing a lost soldier, and building/discovering a Plains Indian Camp.
The bus will depart at 8:15 AM and will return before the end of the school day at 3:15 PM. There is no cost to the student for this opportunity, however, the student WILL need to bring a sack lunch.
For each opportunity, the students will miss the entirety of their other classes on that day. Because of this, the students will be responsible for meeting with their other teachers to get any makeup work they will miss before we leave. If any student feels uncomfortable participating in the trip for any reason (does not want to miss other classes, etc.), they will be allowed to stay at school and will complete an alternate assignment during their FACS class time.
Please have your student talk with me about any questions or concerns they may have and I will be happy to help.
I am so excited to be able to share these opportunities with your students! I believe the students will greatly benefit from both of these activities. Please sign and return the permission forms to me by Wednesday, October 28th. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by phone at the High School at 285-2151 or by e-mail at [email protected].
